Neon-Classical - the Cult of Imagined Reality

 

I swim in a world of tightly held beliefs, religious convictions, rituals, perceptions, ideals.  Where people who have no other choice but to be small, highly revere figures and characters as holy, divine, enlightened.  God.

 

I see the cult of an imaginary reality.  It's endlessly wondrous to take part in and endlessly joyful to see the comedy of errors that unfolds as we watch our beliefs' foundations crumble when problems arise.  It's entertaining to interact with happiness, sadness, sorrow, and frustration.  It is blissful to look beyond those things into the unknown.

 

This body of work is my homage to ritual, belief, and religion.  These collage works, both digital and paper & paste, are lovely, false shrines to false gods of reality.... yet I also seek to show the inherent divinity of all things.  Cheap statues, the American flag, glitter, fashion, and the typical human being.
